About the role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Meteorologistist to join our Insurance Claims Disaster Management Team in Brisbane.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the interpretation of weather and forecast data, helping to inform our technology strategy for climate data integration and quality, and conducting flood analytics. This position will involve collaboration with the natural peril team to create alignment opportunities and ensure effective disaster response and mitigation strategies.
Key Accountabilities:
- Utilise expertise in hydrology to analyse weather and forecast data, identifying potential risks to insured properties and informing disaster management decisions
- Collaborate with the natural peril team to align strategies and create opportunities for enhanced disaster response and mitigation
- Support the integration of climate data into technology systems and tools, ensuring high quality and accuracy for informed decision-making
- Conduct flood analytics to assess and predict potential impacts on insured properties and develop strategies for risk mitigation
- Communicate findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders, including senior management and technology teams.

About You:
- Degree in Hydrology, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Proven experience in hydrology, weather interpretation, and flood analytics
- Strong knowledge of climate data integration and quality assurance
- Experience working in disaster management or insurance claims is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships across different departments
- 3+ years project experience in the Financial Services industry
- Experience working on large corporate projects
- Experienced in various project management disciplines (PMBOK, Agile etc.)
- Experience building successful business relationships within a sponsorship model
- Experience delivering outcomes in an environment requiring autonomous prioritisation of time and resources across multiple significant initiatives and co-ordination of deliverables across peers and working groups.

- Triangulate Data for Comprehensive Analysis: the ability to decipher and Integrate and analyse data from weather forecasts, dam water levels, soil capacity, and infrastructure impacts to predict and manage potential natural hazard events effectively.

- Manages senior stakeholders; anticipates and responds to people/business impacts from project deliverables
- Sound understanding of risk management practices with ability to comprehensively and proactively report progress and discuss risk in a targeted manner to a wide range of stakeholders.
