Rail Systems Network Modelling - Undergraduate – 12 Week Fixed Term (Full-Time, Paid)
$39.5260 per hour for a 12-week rail network modelling internship. Two positions available to support rail service planning. About the Role

This is a unique, paid internship that offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside a talented team of experts in rail modelling and planning. If you are a student about to enter or already completing your final year of undergraduate or postgraduate study, this role offers an excellent chance to apply your skills and contribute to real-world projects that impact the state’s rail network.
As a Rail Systems Network Modelling Undergraduate , you’ll be involved in critical projects that will shape the future of V/Line's service planning and rail network operations. You’ll gain practical, hands-on experience with advanced rail modelling systems and contribute to the development of strategic service plans that improve the way we move people across Victoria.
Key responsibilities include:
Rail Network Planning: Contribute to the design and development of V/Line’s strategic service plans and future network configurations. Data Analysis: Collect, collate, and analyse operational data to inform planning decisions. Modelling and Simulation: Support the validation and testing of RailSys models, ensuring data integrity and model accuracy. Collaborative Projects: Work with a multi-disciplinary team of experts, contributing to the development of innovative decision-support tools and operational simulations.About You
We are looking for motivated students who are passionate about using data and technology to solve real-world problems. The ideal candidate will:
Be completing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. Have experience with quantitative analysis and data-driven problem solving. Possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills (programming experience is a plus). Have strong communication skills to present findings and collaborate effectively with a team.This position is classified as CLERK C1 ($39.5260 per hour) in accordance with the current V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2023.
