Civil & Building Assistant Manager

12-month Fixed-Term contract with a view to permanency Located in the Snowy Mountains of NSW Diverse role in a unique organisation

Perisher is the operator of the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere, located in the beautiful Snowy Mountains region of South-Eastern NSW and just a two-hour drive from Canberra and the Far South Coast. Perisher is part of Vail Resorts who own and operate ski resort operations across the USA, Canada and Australia including iconic resorts such as Perisher, Falls Creek and Hotham in Australia and Park City, Beaver Creek, Vail and Whistler Blackcomb in North America.

A position has arisen for a trade qualified person to join the Perisher Mountain Operations team as Civil & Building Assistant Manager on an initial 12-month Fixed-Term, full-time basis. The Assistant Manager will provide support to the Civil and Building Manager in leadership, planning, direction and management of the activities of the Civil and Building department by overseeing daily operations and ensuring consistency with corporate strategy, goals and objectives. In this role you will be required to perform a variety of leadership functions including staff and contractor management, project management, financial management, policy development and implementation, staff training, and reporting as well as acting in the role or Civil & Building Manager in their absence.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have strong communications skills together with a high level of attention to detail and be able to prioritise their work effectively to achieve results within set timeframes. Project management qualifications will be highly regarded and Ski Industry experience would be an advantage. In addition, the successful applicant will have demonstrated administrative, budgetary, decision-making, and training skills.

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

A trade background and qualification/s in a building discipline (e.g., building, carpentry or plumbing). Relevant tertiary/post graduate qualifications in operations/project management would be an advantage. Experience in building trade and building industry management including staff and contractor management. A sound understanding of relevant legislation and risk management principles An ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, staff, guests, contractors and statutory bodies.

The role will commence ASAP and be employed on an initial 12-month contract, with a view to ongoing employment post the successful completion of the initial fixed term. Remuneration will be negotiated commensurate with qualifications, experience, skills and abilities. In addition to the remuneration package, exceptional employee benefits will apply.
