The opportunity

Reporting to the General Counsel & Executive Director, Contracts, Procurement & Risk, the Procurement Operations Lead will be responsible for providing effective leadership and direction to the national Silverchain operational procurement team, who are responsible for purchasing of goods and services, subcontractor contracts administration and fleet management. This operational procurement team works closely with an outsourced strategic procurement team that is responsible for category management, and strategic sourcing. The role will be suited to an individual who is able to provide support, oversight and management of an operational leadership team of 3, and to identify, analyse and implement innovative solutions to improve systems and processes.

The role is being offered on a permanent full-time basis. Silverchain’s head office is based in Osborne Park and there is parking available for staff. The office is also closely located to Glendalough train station.

Key responsibilities

The major accountabilities of this position are below. In this role you will:

  • Mentor and support the Operational Procurement Team to grow in capability and efficiency.
  • Ensure that operational procurement queries and issues are responded to within reasonable timeframes.
  • Promote and support operational procurement initiatives, process and system improvements.
  • Provide input and analysis of purchasing trends, identify supply chain risks and develop appropriate reports.
  • Be responsible for stakeholder user training on purchasing modules of Dynamics 365 ERP system (P2P).
  • Assist with governance and fraud prevention using controls around procurement activities, including appropriate use of delegations of authority.
  • Support the fleet team to effectively manage our Silverchain fleet.
  • Support the Sub-contractor Administration Team on the effective maintenance of the approved supplier lists, compliance requirements and contract status, to ensure services are delivered to the required standard and approved cost.
  • Support the Purchasing team to effectively place orders and manage inventory records.

About you

To be successful in this role, your previous skills and experience will match up with the below requirements:

  • A qualification in business or economics, logistics, supply chain management or purchasing.
  • 5+ years’ experience in leading an operational purchasing or procurement team, within government/NFP or a medium to large organisation.
  • Excellent and in-depth knowledge of procurement processes.
  • Be an established leader who can translate strategic vision into operational outcomes.
  • Be a leader who wants to support and encourage their team to be the best at what they do.
  • Demonstrated commercial judgement, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead, support, manage, and coach a team over multiple states.
  • High-level problem-solving skills to critically analyse and apply appropriate assessments for complex issues.
  • Enjoys collaboration with other key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, motivate, consult, negotiate, mentor, build and maintain relationships with senior managers and stakeholder groups.
