The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity for a GIS Data Governance Specialist to join our GeoSpatial Service team in Thomastown VIC, Eagle Farm QLD or Kidman Park SA, on a Permanent Fulltime basis.
Reporting to the Data Services Manager, this role plays a pivotal role in advancing Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Improvement across the GIS data domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading Data Governance Initiatives - implement and drive Data Governance, Data Improvement, and Change initiatives to enhance data quality, increase trust, and foster adoption of data for business decision-making.
- Coordinate Data Improvement Projects - work closely with Data Services, Spatial Services, IT, and other business units to develop and implement remediation plans for data issues and ensure that these initiatives are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with established Data Standards.
- Rollout Data Governance Framework - drive the implementation of the Data Governance Framework by working with business and technology stakeholders to manage Data Governance councils/forums, enforce Data Standards, and implement required processes and controls.
- Develop & Maintain Data Policies & Standards - establish, maintain, and enforce data-related policies and standards. Monitor, measure, and report compliance through data controls to ensure adherence to established Data Standards.
Your background
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or related field or relevant experience in this area is favourable.
- Demonstrated experience in leading Data Governance initiatives and implementing Data Quality and Data Standardisation within complex organisational environments.
- In-depth knowledge of geospatial data, including geo-reference systems, map projections, data quality, and metadata within the context of Data Governance.
- Excellent communication skills for articulating requirements using data and process models, with a focus on promoting Data Governance principles and Data Standards.
- Effective time management skills, crucial for effectively managing Data Governance and data improvement initiatives.

Networks manages and operates transmission pipelines and local distribution networks that deliver gas to around 1.4 million households and businesses across Australia.
