Why this role matters

Staying Home Leaving Violence is a specialised domestic violence program aimed at preventing clients from becoming homeless via the provision of intensive case management which is long-term, needs-based and integrated with key agencies.​We help women and children in Broken Hill and Wentworth/Dareton who are escaping domestic violence to remain safely in their homes.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Case Worker to support the development and implementation of client-led case plans to achieve the best outcomes for those seeking assistance.

Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent, part-time (30 hours per week) position based in Wentworth/Dareton, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 4.

You will successfully

  • Undertake ongoing assessment of clients’ issues, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit.

  • Establish effective relationships with clients that encourage self-determination and participation. 

  • Ensure preventative action is taken in relation to potential high risk situations.

  • Provide case management support to clients.

  • Develop individual case plans in collaboration with clients; include a range of interventions that address the needs or goals of clients. 

  • Assist clients to access support services and establish community supports; providing advocacy where needed. 

  • Attend and actively participate in supervision, team meetings, planning, training courses as required (occasional overnight travel may be required).

  • Monitor and review progress and outcomes of individual case plans.

  • Maintain accurate, up to date client records and data.

  • Identify risks to clients, staff and The Salvation Army, and bring these to the attention of the Team Leader as soon as possible. 

  • Identify service gaps and make recommendations for service delivery improvements to the Team Leader.

You will have

  • Current NSW employee Working with Children Check. 

  • Valid NSW Driver’s Licence.

  • Relevant qualification (tertiary degree or associate diploma) with experience; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience.  

  • Minimum 1-year experience in case management, experience in the family violence sector is advantageous.  

  • Knowledge with client advocacy and working in partnership with others.
