About the Role

Sitting within our Centre for Longitudinal Research, the Sample Support Officer plays an important part in assisting the management of and providing sample support across longitudinal panels / projects. Reporting to the Senior Research Director, you will be working with other members of the Sample Team to:

  • Allocate samples to our Field Research Officers – these are the households that Field Research Officers need to approach.
  • Ensure all households are correctly classified – this is used to make decisions about how to approach households now and in future years.
  • Follow up with Field Research Officers about sample issues and answer their queries.
  • Conduct regular sample checks.
  • Produce weekly fieldwork reports and ad hoc sample data tables as required.
  • Audit and edit data in our system (Forsta).
  • Contribute ideas for process improvements.

This is a vital position within a small team working on an important longitudinal social research study. You will need to take ownership of your responsibilities and see them through to completion.

About You

You are proactive in problem identification, problem-solving and solution implementation. Coupled with a high level of reading skills and excellent attention to detail, you are able to make quick and accurate decisions to resolve issues and move projects along. You have excellent communication skills and a professional, personable demeanour. Comfortable and confident, your strong team spirit allows you to be at ease dealing with people at different levels across the organisation.
