Sample Receipt Officer

Our client is a respected provider of laboratory services to the Melbourne region, with a fantastic opportunity for a Sample Receipt Officer to join their site in Port Melbourne for a 6 month contract. This would suit a recent chemistry graduate looking for their start in the science industry and will offered on a full-time Monday to Friday basis.

**Responsibilities**:

- Receive and document incoming samples from various sources, ensuring proper identification and labeling.
- Verify sample integrity, ensuring that all necessary information and documentation accompany each sample.
- Organize and prioritize sample receipt based on predetermined protocols and deadlines.
- Record sample information accurately in the database or laboratory information management system (LIMS).
- Follow established procedures for sample storage, retrieval, and disposal.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth sample flow and timely processing.
- Maintain inventory of supplies necessary for sample receipt and storage.
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of equipment related to sample receipt and handling.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety and quality assurance guidelines.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is preferred, however a diploma or certificate IV in Laboratory techniques would be considered.
- Proven experience in a laboratory or sample handling environment is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety and quality assurance protocols in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting and carrying sample containers.
