Their relationship-based practice aims to create meaningful connections and empower individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges

Overview:

As a Paediatric Psychologist, you will play a crucial role in providing specialised psychological services to children and their families. This role offers a chance to make a significant impact on the community by addressing mental health issues and promoting psychological well-being among young patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and diagnose mental health disorders, neurodevelopmental, intellectual, and learning disabilities.
  • Perform psychological assessments to appraise cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning of children and provide feedback to their families/wider care team.
  • Develop and implement individual, group, and team interventions using evidence-based practices.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary discussions to ensure best practice and quality intervention planning.
  • Contribute to the development of multidisciplinary treatment plans for children.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and ongoing evaluation of clinical practice.

Clinical Psychologist Duties:

  • Crisis intervention for psychological emergencies.
  • Case management and coordination of care.
  • Family therapy sessions.
  • Specialised assessments (e.g., autism, ADHD)
  • Behavioral consultation for parents and teachers.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior clinicians and provisional psychologists.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Maintain client information in accordance with organisational, professional, and NDIS requirements.
  • Manage own calendar and client database.
  • Provide guidance for risk assessment and safety planning.

The important stuff:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Psychology.
  • General Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Registration with AHPRA.
  • Proficiency in psychological assessment procedures, interview techniques, and intervention practices.
  • Skills and knowledge in planning, implementing, and evaluating Psychology service quality.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current C Class driver's license.
  • Covid-19 Digital Certificate.

Desirable Position Criteria

  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural setting, particularly relating to Aboriginal Health and Culture.
  • Current Medicare provider number.
  • Availability to travel across the region when required, including overnight stays. Accommodation & travel funded.
