An established boutique accounting firm with Business Services, Business Advisory, Tax and SMSF compliance clients currently has an opening and is seeking an enthusiastic Accountant. This is a permanent full time position.
What’s involved:
This role involves all facets of Business Services for clients including:
- Exposure to a wide range of business service activities
- Dealing with an interesting and diverse client base, ranging from small businesses to large SME's
- Working as part of a small team, reporting to a Manager and the Principal
- Processing of accounting information to prepare statutory financial statements for clients for all types of entities.
- Preparation of working papers and supporting documents
- Preparation of client correspondence and checking of assessments
- Preparation of accounts for client types utilising accounts software - MYOB Accounts (MYOBAE), Xero and BGL.
- Preparation of income tax returns for all types of entities
- Preparation of Business Activity Statement (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS)
- Liaise with clients and organisations about client’s affairs
- Utilizing Xero, MYOB Essentials and Quicken/Quickbooks files to assist clients with bookkeeping and BAS preparation
- MYOB data entry, reconciliation for clients and bank statement coding
- Preparation of accounts for SMSF’s using BGL software for both accumulation and pension funds
- Participation in staff training sessions for technical updates
Qualifications and experience:
To be successful in your application, you will:
- Hold a degree or soon to complete a degree in Commerce/Economics or Business with an Accounting major with an Australian university or similar.
- Have 1 - 2 years or more experience in a Public Accounting firm in Australia
- Had exposure in tax, compliance work and BAS preparation, financial statements preparation.
In addition you will have:
- Outstanding written and verbal communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Initiative and drive
- High attention to detail
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- A desire to learn in a challenging, informal yet very professional environment
