The Opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering has an opportunity for an Accreditation and Strategic Projects Lead that is based within the Academic Programs Team. This is a crucial role that will lead the faculty’s cyclical accreditation and reaccreditation Engineering programs. You will be responsible for strategic planning, project management, and coordinating with stakeholders across the faculty’s schools to prepare submissions and responses to mandatory requirements and recommendations. Working closely with the team, you will align and streamline the faculty’s academic program reviews with accreditation activities.

As the Accreditation and Strategic Projects Lead, you will have responsibility for a range of faculty-level initiatives that form part of UNSW’s education strategy white paper, ‘A New Paradigm in UNSW Engineering Education’. This strategy is designed to drive and support continuous enhancement of the student education experience and outcomes, develop staff education capabilities, and position the Faculty of Engineering as an internationally recognised leader in engineering education.

This role will involve strong collaboration across the faculty’s Education Portfolio, working closely with and providing strategic support to the Deputy Dean (Education), Associate Dean (Education), and providing advice around education innovation, student experience, WIL, short course teams, etc.

This role reports to the Academic Programs Manager and has 1 direct report.

Salary, Level 8: $118,883 to $133,948 per annum + 17% superannuation Full time Continuing (Permanent) Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Skills and Experience

A relevant degree and extensive relevant experience in the implementation and management of projects in a complex organisation or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience. A strong knowledge of the University sector including the wider academic environment, the engineering industry and associated trends, relevant partner organisations both domestically and internationally, and associated impacts on the educational experience. Demonstrated understanding of compliance requirements within Universities and Professional Bodies. Proven ability to work with initiative, both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, and to provide leadership in project delivery. Significant research, analysis and critical judgement skills, including the ability to synthesise large amounts of complex information, both qualitative and quantitative, and present in a succinct and professional manner. Excellent written communication skills, including demonstrated experience in the preparation of comprehensive and high-quality reports, correspondence and other forms of communication for internal and/or external distribution. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and consultation skills, including the ability to build and sustain effective professional relationships, manage a diverse group of stakeholders, and guide and influence decision makers to ensure the timely delivery of outcomes. Excellent organisation and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines. An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines. Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
