About the Role

The Assistant Operations Manager provides hands on leadership support to our day-to-day operational areas of Rottnest Ferry operations - acting as the point of contact between our Operations Team and Vessel crew to ensure consistency, compliance and smooth running so our guest truly have a brilliant experience.

This is a hand on role, working between our Perth and Fremantle locations on a roster basis, and ideal for candidates with a Marine Background and sound operational knowledge. 

The Assistant Operation Manager Supports the Operations teams with:

  • Coaching and developing vessel crew to create a high performance, engaged, customer-centric team culture
  • Develop positive ongoing relationships with all staff, management, customers, and third-party suppliers
  • Lead by example in your adherence to company policy, operations procedures, and OH&S guidelines
  • Working closely with the Reservations, Operations, Charter, Kitchen, and Maintenance department
  • Organise scheduling and timely dispatch of all departures and on time delivery of services
  • Hands on approach managing vessel, passenger, and luggage movement
  • Administrative duties such as maintaining crew training records, reporting, data input and scheduling
  • Providing support to the crew on computer-based initiatives and tools
  • Ensure all administration requirements in relation to operation of the vessels, including OH&S and fatigue management requirements are adhered to

About You

To be successful you will have:

  • Proven managerial experience and the ability to lead and motivate staff
  • Sound knowledge of Marine legislation and compliance
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to pick up new systems
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to suggest practical and timely solutions that meet the needs of the business
  • Team player
  • Ability to work under pressure with a result driven mindset
  • Be curious and contribute to the improvement of processes and systems through feedback and action 
  • Ability to work rotating roster including public holidays, weekends and early starts
