We also deploy medical professionals and aircraft in support of defence, government and commercial contracts, and energy and resource sector sites. 

The role: 

We currently have an opportunity for a Human Resources Trainee to join the organisation and be a key member of CareFlight’s Human Resources Team, to support our HR processes, procedures and Systems.

Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager Northern Operations you will develop human resources administration skills utilising a combination of study-based learning and on-the-job training, as well as providing excellent client service and making a positive contribution to the organisation’s culture.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide administrative support to the HR team including but not limited to maintaining employee records, filing, minute taking and on-boarding / off-boarding processes.
  • Support in preparation of internal communications such as our internal newsletter (Crew News).
  • Assist the HR team with various stages of the recruitment, selection, onboarding and induction process such as responding to enquiries received through the HR recruitment inbox, posting job adverts to various job boards/ platforms, screening of CVs, scheduling and participating in interviews, reference checks, pre-employment checks and the completion of new employee checklists.
  • Act as a first point of contact for managers and employees with general queries.
  • Additional duties: Participate in HR projects as required, coordination of internal staff events as listed on the annual HR calendar and any ad hoc tasks on an as needs basis as directed by the HR team.
  • Filing, typing, data entry and ordering as required.
  • Delivery of mail and packages to Northern Operations departments.
  • Organise and set-up rooms for meetings e.g. opening doors, arranging tables, water and glasses.
  • Assist with booking meetings, minute taking and preparation of meeting papers.
  • Carry out general reception duties for CareFlight Northern Operations from time to time, including welcoming and acknowledging staff and visitors, answering and directing phone calls and ensuring visitors complete the sign in/out book.
  • Assist with organising catering for NT events as required.
  • Assist with leave coverage for administration positions as required.

To be successful in this role you will have the following: 

  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
  • A sound knowledge of Indigenous culture, society and kinship networks.
  • The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of staff, customers, suppliers and visitors in an attentive, courteous and service orientated manner. 
  • Reasonable computer skills.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to apply initiative and undertake own research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organisation skills, with a key eye for detail.
  • Good time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Hold a current NT Driver’s Licence.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications or Cert IV in Human Resources (or currently studying).
  • Familiarity with HR systems and databases.
  • Flexible and able to also work from CareFlight’s Bankstown base as required.
