Job Description

About the role 

Exciting opportunity to lead communication strategies at Racing WA Join us in enhancing the organization's reputation, building trust in the Racing WA brand, and growing the sport across Western Australia. Responsibilities include media relations, crisis management, stakeholder engagement, and more to educate and inspire diverse audiences. Be part of showcasing the social value of racing and ensuring its long-term sustainability.

Accountabilities of the role include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive government relations strategy, fostering relationships with Members of Parliament, regulatory bodies and key stakeholders, focusing on the ability to influence the political environment and policy in line with business objectives.
  • Actively engage with key Members of Parliament in conjunction with the Government Relations Manager to build racing allies across all levels of Government.
  • Identify Government funding opportunities and oversee budget submissions, grant applications, and facilitate funding discussions with key stakeholders including advocating for election commitments.
  • Report to the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer (CCAO) on the Government Relations strategy and its progress.
  • Assist the CCAO with strategic counsel to the Board and CEO, ensuring alignment with government messaging safeguarding reputational interests.
  • Oversee internal communications plan, focused on driving engagement across a diverse and multi-faceted workforce including multiple locations and differing working models.

Qualifications

About You 

As a People Leader, this role is responsible to Lead Self and Lead Others in alignment with RWWA’s organisational values of Respect, Accountability, Connection and Excellence 

The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Substantial experience in public relations, communications, and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Demonstrated literacy competence and skillsets.
  • Experience in the management of a team.
