We have a great opportunity for an experienced Nurse unit Manager to join our team on a full time, 12-month maximum term contract, leading an experienced nursing team at our Norwest oncology clinic located in Bella Vista.

As the Nurse Unit Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the nursing team to meet the needs of GenesisCare's strategy, vision and values. This is achieved by providing advanced nursing knowledge and skills, leadership to ensure a positive engaged workforce and resource management to ensure all aspects of legislation are addressed.

The Nurse Unit Manager will have an excellent understanding of current trends, research and policies in Oncology Nursing. You will work with the Centre Leader, Quality Manager and Director of Nursing to ensure evidence based, best practice guidelines are applied.

More specifically you will:

  • Provide Nursing Leadership and Management of staff.
  • Excel in Clinical service planning and management.
  • Set performance goals with the team and enable these to be achieved.
  • Actively support and champion GenesisCare initiatives to improve culture, quality, efficiency and effectiveness, taking on a leadership role within projects where required.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of the nursing team.
  • Drive and lead the implementation of project initiatives also participating in project groups as required.
  • Assist and support staff in education, research and development opportunities.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Registration as a Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Clinical experience as a nurse – 3 years nursing oncology experience an advantage
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines and standards.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to demonstrate empathy for patients and their carer’s.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to the application of quality improvement and best practice principles, including the NSQHS.
  • Strong commitment to quality patient care

Desirable:

  • Post graduate qualifications or experience in acute care, management or healthcare administration.
  • Experience in Medical Oncology.
  • Experience in leading a team and managing people effectively to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to create an environment that develops staff potential.
