**The Role**

The position manages the day-to-day delivery of nursing services within the Forensic Hospital.

The position is responsible and accountable for planning, development, implementation and evaluation of nursing services for persons admitted to the unit and will oversee the delivery of these services.

The Nursing Unit Manager must ensure that mental health services are safely, effectively and efficiently delivered in this environment. Continuous mental health/physical health and risk assessment must occur as part of the comprehensive assessment, care coordination and discharge planning process.

The position holder is required to develop and maintain strong working relationships with other health streams including: Women’s Health, Adolescent Health, Primary Health, Drug & Alcohol, Aboriginal Health and Population Health, as well as Local Health Districts.

- The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW. This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional and high-risk civil patients._
- A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health professionals are dedicated to providing a care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care, to long stay and rehabilitation care._

**A comprehensive two week full time orientation is provided, with the next intake date on 5 February 2024**

**Salary & Benefits**

Your salary **$129,235.88 **per annum plus super and leave loading is just the beginning.

1. Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.

2. Significant recent clinical experience in a mental health setting and tertiary qualification in health management or working towards or a combination of study.

3. Proven ability to manage and monitor staff performance across all domains including clinical practice, professional conduct and professional development within the Multidisciplinary Team model.

4. Sound knowledge of the principles of clinical risk assessment and management, and therapeutic security in a high secure setting.

5. Demonstrated experience in incident management and reporting systems within a quality improvement and governance framework.

7. Proven ability to co-ordinate several activities simultaneously to meet identified outcomes and timelines.

8. Proven effective leadership skills with commitment to practice development and implementation of these principles.
