About the role:

We are seeking motivated and collaborative early to mid-career heritage professional, to join our growing Victorian Cultural Heritage Team. This role will involve working within a team-based delivery model on a undertaking a wide range of cultural heritage projects, including Aboriginal and historical heritage, within archaeological, built and landscape heritage contexts. Projects that you will work on will primarily be located throughout Victoria with potential to work alongside interstate teams on major projects in many other parts of Australia.

Your professional qualifications and experience

You must have a recognised tertiary degree in cultural heritage management, Australian archaeology, and/or anthropology. If you hold other qualifications that you consider relevant to the role, these may still be considered at Umwelt’s discretion.

You will be motivated and enthusiastic about growing and building upon your existing experience in the cultural heritage industry, which includes ideally 2 or more years working in a heritage consulting context.

As you will be working primarily in Victoria, a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Victorian heritage legislation, associated regulations and guidelines is a key requirement of the successful candidate. If you can demonstrate understanding and experience in heritage management in other State and Territory jurisdictions, and within Commonwealth heritage contexts, this would also be highly regarded by Umwelt.

Demonstrated experience in assisting with cultural heritage field surveys, archaeological testing and/or salvage programs and collating and analysing field results, and preparation of associated technical reports in the Victorian legislative context would be highly regarded by Umwelt.

As your role will include travel and fieldwork, it is essential that you hold a current unrestricted Australian Drivers licence.

It is highly desirable, though not essential, that you are also:

  • Currently registered as a Heritage Advisor in Victoria, or
  • Meet or will soon meet the requirements for a Heritage Advisor in Victoria.
