About the role:

We are seeking an experienced, collaborative and delivery focused subject matter expert who is confident in dealing with projects of complexity. You will lead a wide range of cultural heritage projects, including First Nations and/or historical heritage, within anthropological, archaeological, built and/or landscape heritage contexts. The majority of the projects you will work on will be in Victoria, however you will also collaborate with interstate teams on significant projects in other Australian states.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing proposals and quotations for heritage projects
  • Undertaking desktop research and review of projects and the heritage environment to understand client risk, approval requirements and assessment needs
  • Leading cultural heritage field work, including archaeological surveys and excavations
  • Artefact identification and recording
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Victorian heritage legislation guidelines
  • Collating, analysing and synthesizing data and preparation of desktop, field, and consultation outcomes
  • Presenting technical findings and relaying information to non-technical persons, including clients and community.
  • Undertake anthropological work, including in-depth interviews and cultural mapping activities with First Nations peoples.
  • Preparing technical reports
  • Completing technical quality review of deliverables

About you:

The ideal candidate for this role is someone seeking a senior heritage role where they can demonstrate their 10 ++ years of experience in the heritage/consulting industry.

Key requirements:

  • Degree qualification in Cultural Heritage Management, Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Victorian heritage legislation, and guidelines
  • Ideally have 10+ years consulting experience, as a Heritage Consultant/Project Archaeologist in Victoria
  • Strong report writing skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work with other professional, community members and stakeholders as part of a collaborative working environment to deliver high quality results
  • Strong Cultural Heritage Management Plan experience
  • Demonstrated business development experience
  • Excellent communication and time management skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences, which include clients, government agencies and internal staff
  • Demonstrate leadership experience, including project management and team coordination
  • Current Australian driver’s license
