Beca has been supporting and providing maritime consultancy services to government, Industrial and Defence clients for over 80 years – and over this time Ports and Maritime team have developed a keen understanding of the types of solutions that meet the demands of the users and key stakeholders.

We have extensive experience of working in the marine environment and fully understand the challenges faced when constructing and maintaining maritime infrastructure.  Our multidisciplinary teams deliver integrated solution to ports and maritime projects, drawing upon experience from projects both internationally and across Australia.  Services that include all stages of a project - from the early planning, studies and concept work, through to detailed design and on to construction assistance and management.

The opportunity

To help accelerate our growth we are looking for a Technical Director – Ports and Maritime to help lead and shape our maritime business, in Melbourne.

Working on a wide variety of port and coastal engineering projects in Melbourne and across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands - you’ll be part of a team of highly skilled professionals who will support you as you further grow your technical, client management and job management skills.

This is a key role that will see you take responsibility for:

  • helping to shape the growth of our existing maritime business in Victoria, and across the wider region.
  • maintaining and developing strong relationships with our clients and industry partners.
  • providing technical leadership in the maritime sector.
  • leadership of a range of complex maritime projects across the wider region.
  • developing a culture of outstanding delivery within the team.
  • business development activities from the early identification of opportunities through to their active pursuit and securing of projects with our clients and industry partners.

About you

You will bring the passion and enthusiasm to help shape the growth of our Ports and Maritime business. This opportunity builds on your senior level experience in port/marine infrastructure projects in a consulting environment.

You with be a Chartered Civil (or similar) Engineer (CPEng or equivalent) and a Registered Professional Engineer in Victoria, with a solid career in consulting in the maritime structures sector.  This experience will include technical, delivery and client-facing activities.

You will be familiar with Australian and local codes and technical standards applicable to the design development of marine structure, as well as with international codes and standards applicable to the maritime business (i.e. IBC, British Standards, PIANC, OCIMF, USACE etc.)
