  • 3 days from anywhere in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand per week,

Job Description

About the Role

Training Services is responsible for training progression and providing comprehensive support to trainees, supervisors and committees involved in the RACP training programs across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Our services include advising on program requirements, coordinating the Divisional Clinical Examination in Aotearoa New Zealand, delivering training support for both trainees and supervisors.

The role is responsible for leading the Training Support team in the planning, development and delivery of support services, and the RACP Training Support Pathway to Basic and Advanced Trainees and their supervisors in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. This includes ensuring consistent and effective program and service delivery across the team in alignment with the College's Strategic and Operational Plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of the Training Support team, ensuring effective day-to-day operations and high-quality service delivery to all stakeholders.
  • Provide support and advice to direct reports to resolve or respond to complex issues related to RACP trainees, specialties or settings.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team to deliver optimal service to members and stakeholders. This includes performance management, recruitment, staff development and mentoring.
  • Manage business planning, resource management and financial operations to achieve agreed outcomes and priorities within budget.
  • Plan and manage member engagement to ensure a high standard of advice and service delivery to trainees, their supervisors, training settings and College education and training committees.
  • Contribute to evaluations and reviews of systems, operations, frameworks, policies, programs and resources and oversee implementation of change and continuous improvement.
  • Provide high level advice, information and briefings on policies and processes relating to the support of trainees in the pathway and associated mechanisms to senior leadership team and committees.
  • Coordinate cross-college support for critical incidents impacting trainees, supervisors and training settings.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports and metrics for senior management to support decision-making.
  • Represent the RACP to external stakeholders, including medical councils, training settings, specialty societies, government agencies, and other medical colleges, building strong relationships and fostering collaboration.
Desired Skills and Experience

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience in an education and/or medical/health discipline in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills with experience leading a team to deliver outcomes, professional customer/member service, quality assurance and continuous improvement in a complex environment and with tight time frames.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including negotiation skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex issues, policies and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to drive the implementation of frameworks, programs, policies and supporting resources.
  • Ability to effectively develop and maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders, and with committees.
  • Experience in business planning and governance.
  • Proven experience in providing sound policy advice and support.
