The OpportunityWe have an opportunity for a Plant Biosecurity Officer to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.The Plant Biosecurity Officer contributes to the achievement of the Plant Biosecurity Operations objectives through planning, delivering, reviewing, and reporting on plant health programs and outcomes, including the management of surveillance, and associated regulatory activities and obligations.In this capacity, the position interprets and evaluates research findings and uses professional judgment to make decisions along with the management of various complex and politically sensitive projects and activities associated with plant health and plant pest management functions.
The role contributes to PIRSA's strategic priorities, including overall responsibility for biosecurity, plant pest policy, planning, surveillance, preparedness, incursion response and ongoing management.About UsSouth Australia is internationally recognised for the quality of its agriculture, food, and wine.

Ongoing opportunity.Full time, 37.5 hours per week.RequirementsPossession of a current driver's license and willingness to drive.Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.QualificationsEssential :A degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Entomology, Agriculture or similar.Technical expertise in ecological processes, environmental principles, surveillance, entomology, or equivalent.RemunerationPO2 - $88,255 min - $97,667 max per annum, plus superannuation
