With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
We are seeking an experienced** Contracts Specialist **to join our Business Planning & Commercial team in the Perth office.
The Contracts Specialist will** **provide day-to-day administration of KML's service contracting functions and to liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with company contracting and approval procedures/policies. The Specialist is also required to negotiate with external contractors and suppliers to ensure delivery of services and to protect the KML's commercial interests.
Some ad hoc site travel may be required.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Ensure contractors adhere to business safety policies, procedures and code of practices.
- Ensure procurement and contracting process are in accordance with business policies, procedures and best practices.
- Managing RFx and formal tender process including but not limited to scope of work review, budget and historical spent analysis, identified potential risks and opportunities, development of sourcing strategy, prequalification, ITT preparation, issuance and receipt.
- Managing tender clarification, non-conformance qualifications and exceptions.
- Reviewing contractors rate built and conducting cost review and analysis.
- Conducting contract negotiation, evaluation, recommendation and contract award.
- Facilitation of post contract award including but not limited to the development of mobilisation strategy, HESQ Management Plan and CRAW.
- Effective management of contractors to ensure that goods, services and projects are delivered in line with the agreed terms and conditions.
- Coordinating and administering contracts revisions, progressing claims and preparation of contract variations.
- Interpreting contractual documentation and provide support and advice to Site.
- Managing evaluation and negotiation of contractual claims.
- Development of contractual correspondence, Contracts Weekly and Quarterly Reports within the specified timeframe.
- Maintaining commercial register including correspondence, bank guarantees, progress claims, variations and insurances.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders ensuring they remain informed and engaged. (i.e., to conduct regular meetings with the internal and external stakeholders if required).
- Effective document and data management.
- Actively identify opportunities for business or process improvement.
**Essential Qualifications and experience**:
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Law, Accounting, Commerce, Engineering or related disciplines.
- Proven experience negotiating with external contractors and suppliers to ensure delivery of services and to protect the Company's commercial interests.
- Sound understanding of the principles and practice of Contracts Management with practical experience.
- Demonstrated commercial contracts management and administration experience in similar role.
- Practical experience in the use of contractual documentation in Commodity, Service and Project type contracts.
- Relevant industry membership and participation (CIPSA, AIM or CCMP) is a desirable but not an essential requirement.
- Exposure to Mining industry in similar role capacity.
- National Police clearance
