Australia Heroku, Inc. Full time

Heroku Professional Services is seeking a Senior Technical Architect to lead clients through app development and deployment on Heroku for critically important systems. This role demands deep technical expertise in cloud-based app development along with a robust understanding of operational runtime, data integration, and management. The architect must design systems that are not only scalable and robust, but also optimize the full capabilities of the Heroku platform, seamlessly integrating with other Salesforce products to ensure efficient resource utilization across systems.
The position extends beyond technical skills to include strong customer-facing responsibilities. It is crucial for the architect to grasp the client's business context, translating complex technical details into understandable business terms and advising on strategic decisions. This involves leading robust discussions, communicating tailored solutions to team members, and effectively leading expectations to ensure alignment with the client's strategic goals.
In addition to strategic planning and client interaction, the role occasionally requires hands-on coding. Whether prototyping a solution, solving issues, or guiding the development team through complex implementations, the ability to engage directly with the technology is crucial. This hands-on capability ensures that projects remain agile, responsive, and precisely aligned with client needs.
This versatility not only enhances service delivery but also ensures that the projects are adaptable, minimizing technical debt while increasing business value.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership: Serve as a domain expert on Heroku's cloud platform and data services, focusing on application development, data management, and seamless integrations.
Strategic Advisory: Act as a strategic partner to our clients, helping to unlock and integrate data from various enterprise systems into Heroku-powered applications, enhancing functionality and business insight.
Project Delivery: Lead the design and implementation of complex projects that involve data cloud strategies, scripting solutions, and extensive data management, ensuring successful project outcomes.
Client Engagement: Build strong relationships with clients, becoming a trusted advisor by delivering high client satisfaction scores and guiding them through technical and strategic challenges.
Innovation and Growth: Identify and lead internal initiatives to expand the consulting practice, giving actively to the community's knowledge base and promoting innovative uses of Heroku within enterprise architectures.
Requirements:
Advanced degrees or certifications related to cloud architecture, such as Heroku Architecture, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar, would be beneficial.
At least 8 years of professional experience in software development and cloud-based architectures, including hands-on expertise, with a minimum of 3 years in a technical architecture consulting role specifically focused on Heroku enterprise projects OR other cloud based architectures. Validated experience in deploying and leading applications on Heroku is good to have.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in developing and deploying applications using at least two of the following languages: Ruby, Java, Python, Node.js, PHP, or Go.
The individual brings a deep understanding of key data services offered by Heroku, including Kafka, Redis, and Postgres DB, paired with expertise in data migrations and integrations, particularly with Heroku Connect. This knowledge is essential for optimally using Heroku's capabilities in data handling and ensuring seamless data flow across systems.
Familiarity with Salesforce and its integration points with Heroku platforms, such as MuleSoft and Salesforce Data Cloud.
Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership qualities with the ability to lead multi-functional teams and multi-stakeholder environments. Excellent communication skills are required for effectively articulating technical solutions, conducting workshops, and engaging with both technical and non-technical team members at all organizational levels.
Problem-Solving and Innovation: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, demonstrating innovative thinking that enhances system efficiencies and performance. Must be adept at quick learning and adaptively applying new technologies and frameworks to solve business challenges.
Willingness to travel up to X% to meet client needs and drive successful engagements. This role is designed for a visionary leader eager to shape the future of cloud applications and data integration within a vibrant ecosystem, making a significant impact on our clients' technological and business landscapes.
Leadership Qualities:
Passion: Passionate about driving customer success and technological innovation.
Beginner's Mind: Open to learning and adapting, with a continuous desire to expand skills and knowledge.
Leadership: Skilled at establishing relationships and influencing strategic directions both internally and with clients.
Communicator: Effective at conveying complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audience levels.
Teammate: Strong collaborator, adept at working within teams with varied strengths and fostering a coordinated work environment.
Urgency: Agile and responsive, able to expedite processes and get results swiftly.
Trust: Upholds the integrity and clarity essential to trusted partnerships.
Adaptable: Thrives in dynamic and changing situations, maintaining focus and effectiveness.
Community Champion: Actively supplies to the community and promotes shared learning and growth.
