TransAlta is growing its presence in Australia and has embarked on an exciting growth phase with more than 300MW of wind, solar, gas fired generation, energy storage and HV network projects currently in development or execution stage. The Australian Growth Team comprises of engineering, development and execution professionals and is accountable for developing and delivering customer-centric solutions that support a low carbon sustainable future.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

We are looking to hire an experienced Contracts Specialist to join our team in Perth. This is a new role to team. We are building a high calibre Growth team to support our current and future projects. Reporting directly to the Group Manager - Projects, as the Contracts Specialist you are responsible and accountable for supporting and delivering contract development and contract management services for Growth in TransAlta Energy Australia. Extensive stakeholder engagement is required to provide and maintain strategies which align with the business objectives, processes, policies, and financial targets.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- Ensure contractors adhere to business safety policies, procedures, and code of practices
- Ensure procurement and contracting process are in accordance with business policies, procedures, and best practices
- Acquire and consolidate short-term and long-term contracts requirements from Stakeholders
- Develop contracting strategies for specific projects ensuring close coordination with the stakeholders and direct involvement in project planning and strategy development
- Ensure the above strategies address the business needs and effectively manage cost and schedule risks
- Coordinate review and approval of the various strategies by the appropriate Stakeholders
- Provide effective contract evaluation based on the specific scopes, needs, and risks from the various projects, working closely with the SCM group
- Supports the maintenance, drafting, and revision of procurement contract templates in coordination with the Common Services SCM group
- Effectively coordinate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders ensuring they remain informed and engaged
- Acts as the centralized reporting resource through effective document and data management
- Actively identify opportunities for business or process improvement
- Monitor performance of contracts against contracted Key Performance Indicators

**WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU**
- Tertiary Qualifications in Business, Legal, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related disciplines
- Demonstrated work experience with contract law or contract management within the utilities/resource industry
- Previous experience in executing end to end major multiple large-scale projects, both brownfields and greenfields, with expertise in responsible procurement, project management, vendor management, contracting, legal, and / or supply chain experience
- Ability to work as part of a dynamic environment, working toward solutions which benefit all involved parties
- Proven experience in vendor and contractor management including change management
- Exceptional level of knowledge of services sourcing and procurement concepts and process (e.g. seven step sourcing, bid analysis)
- Proven negotiation abilities using an inclusive, relationship and interest-based contemporary approach
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills - both oral and written
- Excellent organizational, workload management and project management skills
- Knowledge of SAP or equivalent enterprise level software packages is preferred

- Post-graduate qualifications
- Experience in the renewable energy industry with exposure to growth projects

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Valid Police clearance (within the last 6 months)
- Permanent work rights in Australia
