**About the role**:
WAM Australia is looking for a competent and motivated **Workshop Manager** to join our team As the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for managing and controlling activities within the workshop and allocating resources in line with the production plan.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Supervise Workshop Operations**:

- Oversee the daily activities of the workshop, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Execute planned production schedule to meet output, quality and lead time targets.
- Review daily operations output to monitor daily productivity, production requirements, processes and value to meet targets
- Eliminate line stoppages and issues to ensure balance production outputs across all lines.
- Monitor deviations from planned production schedule and identify root cause for delays or variations.
- Ensure the availability of necessary materials, tools, and equipment.
- Manage production inventory (non-materials) and order supplies as needed.

**2. Problem Solving**
- Respond quickly to production issues eg incidents, hazards, poor quality, production downtimes, machine breakdowns.
- Identify, record and track problems, and propose rational solutions in discussion with stakeholders

**3. Team Management**
- Lead, train, and motivate a team of technicians and mechanics.
- Conduct skill audits and provide feedback to Operations & HR Officer
- Ensure leave, overtime and other allowances or deductions are communicated to payroll

**4. Plant optimisation & Maintenance**
- Leading a multi discipline team to safely produce high quality products efficiently whilst maintaining plant in excellent working order
- Schedule planned downtime and maintenance in discussion with Operations manager.

**Quality Control**:

- Monitor production processes to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Implement quality control procedures and address any issues promptly.
- Manage implementation of 5S
- Implement line-quality monitoring and control practices

**Health and Safety**:

- Enforce health and safety regulations within the workshop.
- Identify OH&S hazards in processes or equipment to avoid incidents / accidents
- Lead Toolbox meetings with Operations Manager and Communicate safety updates & implement safety systems / solutions
- Ensure '_Hazard & Incident free operations' _as far as reasonably practicable
- Conduct regular safety inspections and training sessions in discussion with Operations Manager & OHS Officer
- Implement controls to avoid, eliminate or reduce any risks or hazards in the production floor

**Budget Management**:

- Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures.
- Prepare, forecast and manage the workshop budget as advised or required
- Effective defective & scrap components management to reduce/reuse waste and optimize cost savings
- Monitor other indirect costs associated with production.

**Customer Service**:

- Liaise with internal customers (eg Sales, Design etc) to understand their requirements and ensure their satisfaction with the workshop's services**.**
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred not mandatory
- Minimum 10 years' experience in welding / fabrication mandatory
- Minimum 3 years of Workshop Manager or 5 years as Supervisor in metals fabrication
- Minimum 3 years' experience in managing / leading production teams
- Experience of working in a fast-moving workshop environment within production
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams through safety and quality outputs
- Skilled people leader who can set culture and lead a team
- Proactive & self-motivated with the ability to work independently / as part of a team.
- Quick learner with effective coaching and training skills to direct team to success
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Adept at providing feedback and having difficult conversations to align teams.
- Knowledge of FairWorks and WorkSafe in a people leader capacity
