Our Operations
BHP Carrapateena is a large-scale, world-class underground mine operated by skilled professionals.
Ore at Carrapateena is collected from underground mine areas and processed through conventional crushing, grinding, and flotation methods.

Located 472 kilometres northwest of Adelaide, South Australia, Carrapateena is part of our Minerals Australia operations within the Copper South Australia province.
The mine is on the traditional land of the Kokatha people.
Carrapateena produces copper concentrate and is one of the largest mining projects in South Australia in the last decade.
Location :Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster :8/6 FIFO from Adelaide, with a Day/Night rotational schedule.
About the Role
We are currently seeking qualified Mechanical Fitters to join our surface maintenance team at Carrapateena, performing planned, unplanned, and breakdown maintenance activities.
These are future positions that may arise within our operation.
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor - Surface Fixed Plant, in this role you will:
Follow safety standards and procedures to work safely and effectively every day
Provide technical expertise for maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment
Develop close working relationships with operations personnel to address plant downtime issues
Provide feedback on job progress to the maintenance supervisor
Perform planned maintenance on equipment such as conveyors, grinding mills, feeders, pumps, bore fields, and filter presses
Respond to breakdowns with sound troubleshooting skills
Contribute to a safety-focused culture by adhering to safe work procedures and company values
Promote an engaged, diverse, and positive team environment
About You
Proven commitment to safety and wellbeing
Australian-recognized Mechanical Trade qualification (Mechanical Fitter)
Effective communication skills across various levels
Experience in operational maintenance environments
Experience in Copper Concentrator operations is advantageous
Experience with SAP is desirable
Manual Driver's license is essential
High-risk license is essential
Working at Heights and Confined Space competencies are desirable
