Osborne Richardson are delighted to offer 2 sensational Project opportunities to the market in Brisbane. These roles are based in Berrinba, in Southern Brisbane, in the Biosecurity QLD team there. We are seeking an ASAP start for both roles with contracts extending initially until 30th June 2026.
On offer, we have 2 roles which will work within the National Red Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce, promoting and supporting the various projects aimed at educating the community, industry and providing for the distribution of items aimed at ensuring Fire Ants are not allowed to find a home in South East Queensland.
The roles are as follows:
Project Support Officer (A04)
In this role you will provide both a solid base for the administrative and reporting functions of the project team, whilst also adding a degree of technical expertise to the role.
- Undertake a range of activities to support the various functional areas of the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce.
- Administrative tasks including secretariat functions for stakeholder meetings and record keeping.
- Logistics support for fire ant suppression activities delivered by external parties, this includes inventory management.
- Data entry and basic analysis in support of operational activities. Utilisation of GIS mapping and data management systems
- Respond to and resolve customer queries via internal systems such as CaSES CRM and the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce inbox.
- Support of community engagement activities, including social media moderation, attendance at public engagement events and assisting large scale mailout campaigns.
- Provide technical support to the operational delivery of FAST and its role in assisting the eradication efforts of the National Fire Ant Eradication Program.
Project Officer (A05)
As Project Officer in the team, you will develop, nurture and promote the various projects associated the Fire Ant eradication program. We would love to see Project gurus with Communication or Stakeholder Engagement experience/qualifications in particular, indicate their interest in this opportunity.
This role will see you undertaking the following functions:
- Planning and undertaking activities that support the communication, engagement and extension with primary producers and other large landholders in South East Queensland, to enable fire ant management.
- Provision of technical advice to large landholders and primary producers on the effective implementation of fire ant management, including risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment and reporting.
- Establishing, promoting and organising workshops, meetings and engagements with large landholders and primary producers to promote fire ant management activities and options.
- Participating in workshops with key stakeholders, maintaining effective communication and relationships and providing expert advice on fire ant management activities in accordance with biosecurity legislation.
- Effective coordination and tracking of project activities including project deliverables and risks to deliver a number of small, often related projects under a larger project or strategy.
- Preparing documentation and providing support for ordering and distribution of treatment products and equipment relating to fire ant management. This may include inventory management, developing procurement documents, evaluation and contract management.
- Provision of technical support to the operational delivery of FAST and its role in assisting the eradication efforts of the National Fire Ant Eradication Program.
- Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, including various functions in the National Fire Ant Eradication Program, FAST and Biosecurity Queensland
With both roles, on top of the baselines administrative and project skills, there is a strong requirement for technical skills in the biosecurity and/or environmental field. We would love to see a perfect mix in this respect and will be more than happy to discuss how we view the roles with you.
