The Project Officer in the Office of Research
Services administers externally funded
contracts for a range of QUT's externally
funded projects; in particular commercial
research, consulting engagements and
Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) projects.
This hands-on position works closely with
internal and external clients, and staff at all
levels of the University.
The position will be pivotal for coordinating and
providing guidance on established University
policies and associated processes with a view
to providing a high level of quality service in
relation to funded research projects.
Specifically the position will be responsible for
establishing project records, actioning financial
and reporting tasks and maintaining
communication in relation to project support
management.
The Project Officer reports to the Team
Leader, Project Management, for supervision,
workload management and Performance
Planning and Review (PPR).
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Project establishment and management
(including maintenance, monitoring,
reporting and the provision of advice) of
designated projects and activities.
- Consult with other University departments
and external stakeholders regarding
compliance and contractual requirements.
- Develop, foster and maintain highly
effective and supportive working
relationships with internal and external
stakeholders.
- Draft and review project related
correspondence including variations,
milestone and progress reports and other
documentation as required.
- Provide high-level support and advice to the
Team Leader, Project Management, and
Senior Staff where required.
- Keep meticulous records and maintain
accurate information within the University's
systems to ensure research data quality
and integrity.
- Contribute to a collaborative and open team
culture that is client-focussed and proactive.
- Contribute to a process improvement and
innovative culture to review and improve
processes with a view to establishing best
practice consistently and continually.
- Compliance with health and safety policies,
procedures, hazard reporting and safe work
practices.
To ensure job flexibility the successful
- appointee may be required to:
- perform any other duties as nominated by
the University consistent with the relevant
classification descriptors detailed in the
Enterprise Agreement. Staff undertaking
any new duties will receive training;
- participate in job rotation or multiskilling in
consultation with their supervisor;
- work across campuses.
**Type of appointment**
This appointment will be offered on a fixed
- term, full-time basis for 12 months.

Selection Criteria
1. Education, training and/or relevant
experience equivalent to a degree in
business or a related discipline with
subsequent relevant experience.
2. Proven experience in research funding
management, as well as managing and
resolving complex research funding
issues.
3. Demonstrated high-level literacy, written
and verbal communication skills, with
proven experience in producing reports,
variations and complex correspondence,
tailoring documents to various audiences.
4. Proven ability to work effectively and
collaboratively in a team to foster positive
team culture and good working
relationships.
5. Knowledge of, or ability to quickly acquire
knowledge of, and ability to interpret and
implement relevant policies and
procedures applicable to the higher
education sector.
6. Demonstrated digital literacy skills
including Office 365, electronic record
management systems and other large
corporate systems.
- **Remuneration and Benefits**
The classification for this position is Higher
Education Worker Level 6 (HEW6) which has
- an annual remuneration range of $96,955 to
- $104,981 pa. Which is inclusive of an annual
- salary range of $81,928 to $88,710 pa, 17%
- superannuation, and leave loading.
