The role The Surgery Connect Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the program adheres to Queensland Health's core values while strategically planning and enhancing patient care. This role involves providing expert support and direction, analysing performance against KPIs, and collaborating with stakeholders to identify and implement improvement opportunities. The Manager will lead the development of clinical service delivery models and plans, ensuring that patient care is both high-quality and cost-effective. This includes preparing complex briefings, reports, and business cases, while also offering strategic leadership in the planning, implementation, and sustainability of clinical services. Effective management of Surgery Connect activities in line with State and Commonwealth requirements is essential, alongside delivering accurate advice to the Senior Director and fostering professional partnerships to align surgical services with government directives.
The successful person
**The essential requirements for this role are**:
- Extensive management and organisation experience with a proven record of achievement at a senior level (preferably clinical) in a large, complex, decentralised service delivery organisation.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills at a senior level, including an ability to manage change and deliver a significant work program which involves service delivery to the public, utilising a multidisciplinary team in a complex and high pressure environment.
- Highly developed analytical and diagnostic skills with the demonstrated ability to provide expert analysis and to formulate, negotiate and implement proactive strategies to deliver business outcomes while continually improving performance.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders including senior clinicians, HHS Chief Executives, senior Department of Health officers and external stakeholders including the Commonwealth Department of Health, professional Colleges and Divisions, and private service providers.
- Demonstrated advanced written and verbal communication skills for the provision of complex reports, submissions, business cases, briefing notes and correspondence on a range of issues
- Demonstrated high level project management skills and experience with a record of planning, managing concurrent projects and competing priorities, meeting deliverables, managing risk, and delivering outputs and business benefits.
Mandatory qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Qualifications relevant to the position and/or health service management are well regarded.
- Clinical and professional knowledge in the areas related to surgical practice is well regarded.
