National Trust of Australia (Queensland) [NTAQ] is a member-based organisation and environmental charity with a portfolio of 15 heritage properties across the State including one of the Gold Coast's most popular tourist destinations, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is a physical embodiment of everything the NTAQ represents which is to **conserve and advance our natural and cultural heritage for future generations.**

As NTAQ continues to diversify and scale our organisation, we have an opportunity for a strategic and experienced **Health & Safety Manager** to join our Senior Management Team to lead and implement existing health and safety programs as well as develop and monitor new health and safety strategies to build a safe and well work culture across all our sites.

**About the Role**
Based at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS) and reporting to the General Manager - CWS, the Health & Safety Manager will proactively lead all Workplace Health and Safety matters & provide high level advice to the Executive Leadership Team and to the Board.

As a newly created leadership position to support the growth and diversity of our organisation, the H&S Manager will lead the implementation of targeted safety initiatives, develop an updated H&S framework and develop systems and tools to support our strategic plan.

As a solutions-oriented H&S leader, a key focus will be to implement organisation-wide solutions for workplace health & safety in accordance with Queensland Workplace Health & Safety Legislation, Australian Standards & develop and implement best practice policies and procedures to lead our organisation responsibly for a sustainable future. Leading the function, as well as a small team that is set to grow, will use their knowledge to provide practical guidance and advice to establish and deliver safety standards in partnership with regional and operational teams to drive and support improved safety and cultural outcomes.

As part of our Senior Leadership Team, our Health & Safety Manager will mentor other business leaders within the area of H&S and develop solutions to improve H&S performance and develop capability across the business.

**About You**
To be successful in this role, you will have relevant experience successfully developing, implementing, and maintaining WHS Programs within a dynamic, multifaceted and customer facing environment. You will be a proactive leader and be able to influence and coach others to drive skill uplift and organisational capability. Other required skills and qualifications we are looking for include:

- Relevant safety qualifications essential at minimum Cert IV level, Bachelor preferred
- Comprehensive commercial experience and knowledge of industry practices across multi-use sites
- High degree of computer literacy and presentation skills and ability to confidently translate and present data to influence senior management teams, including presenting at Board level
- Demonstrated capability in coaching leaders and frontline workers to build knowledge and understanding of relevant health, safety and wellbeing requirements
- Excellent understanding of WHS and change management principles.
- A pragmatic and flexible approach to solving problems with the ability to drive and support transformational change
- Experience in setting up new work sites would be an advantage.
- Experience managing people and high levels of emotional intelligence, demonstrated effective delegation and strategy skills
- Ability to travel intrastate
- Be prepared to work in an outdoor environment, in all weathers, in a role that requires substantial walking in a workplace that has native wildlife such as birds and reptiles.
