About the Role
The Commercial Development Manager is a member of the Product, Strategy & New Technology team in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) business unit. The Product, Strategy & New Technology team defines and executes growth strategies and product innovation to deliver on the vision of being the partner of choice for business to create a low carbon future.
The Commercial Development Manager leads business and product development activities for technology-enabled 'behind the meter' and orchestration solutions for business customers. This role will help AGL's C&I customers to decarbonise, reduce their energy costs and create value from their energy assets through integrating AGL's existing and new technology-based energy product offerings. This may include batteries, solar, virtual power plant and orchestration services, EV charging, energy management, electrification and other emerging technologies.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead business development activities of technology-based behind the meter and orchestration solutions, with a focus on integrated energy product offerings that include batteries, solar, EV charging, orchestration or virtual power plant services, but also including energy management, electrification and other emerging technologies.
- Identify and evaluate business customer opportunities, build commercial business cases including financial modelling, engage with customers and help drive data-based business decisions.
- Lead commercial negotiations including managing customer relationships, leading cross-functional teams to create proposals, tender responses and commercial negotiations with customers. Be accountable for the whole commercial value chain from identifying opportunity through to signing of contracts.
- Work across a complex and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to support new C&I technology-enabled growth initiatives. This will include evaluation of new market opportunities, project management of C&I customer trials and new product initiatives.
- Develop and manage new orchestration/technology products and services. This will include creation of product and pricing constructs, contract development, and project management of internal processes and training others internally.
- Monitor customer, competitor, market, and regulatory changes for recommending C&I strategy, products and go to market approaches as required.
- Ensure an integrated approach to creating customer value through close collaboration with internal teams - Sustainable Business Energy Solutions sales teams, C&I Product, Distributed Energy Resources and C&I Energy Sales.
About You
What you'll bring to the table:
- Previous sales/business development with business customers or commercial experience
- Relevant energy industry experience and strong understanding of the Australian energy market and commercial strategy, including: value drivers, distributed energy, wholesale electricity markets, network pricing, and retail customer products and services
- Business acumen, commercial negotiation skills and ability to think strategically
- Experience in delivering outcomes in large corporate environments managing various internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary and cross-functional project teams
- Tertiary qualification(s) in relevant technical and/or business discipline
