Based in the Brisbane CBD, this senior role supports a major financial transformation program within an asset-heavy environment.You will play a pivotal role in driving improved financial governance, reporting and controls, while working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance financial capability across the organisation.Brisbane CBD | $122.17 / hour + super | 9-month contract (with extensions likely)About the DepartmentThe Infrastructure Services Division (ISD) of the Queensland Department of Education is responsible for managing a $40 billion education asset portfolio and delivering capital works and maintenance programs worth over $1.7 billion annually.
As demands grow, ISD is undertaking a comprehensive business transformation to uplift financial management, asset oversight, and strategic capability.The OpportunityThis role is critical to advancing ISD's maturity in financial management.
Working within a strategic project team, you will provide expert guidance, implement improved financial processes, and deliver meaningful insights to uplift performance.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys producing deliverables, working with stakeholders, and solving complex challenges in an asset-intensive environment.Key Responsibilities IncludeDesign and implement improved financial management frameworks, tools, and reporting structures;Provide subject matter expertise in budgeting, forecasting, capitalisation, and financial governance;Analyse financial data to support executive decision-making and audit responses;Collaborate with senior stakeholders to understand requirements and drive capability uplift;Develop project documentation such as process maps, business cases, and performance reports; andSupport change management, capability development, and cross-functional engagement.Required ExperienceEssentialExtensive financial management experience in infrastructure or asset-heavy industries;Strong understanding of AASB standards and financial governance;Proven experience in financial transformation, not just BAU operations;Proficiency in financial tools such as Excel, ERP systems, Power BI;Strong analytical and communication skills with a focus on practical outcomes; andA hands-on, collaborative and proactive work style.DesirableExperience in large-scale transformation or low-maturity environments;Capability in stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation; andCPA / CA qualifications and / or experience embedding financial improvements within operational teams.BenefitsHigh-impact role supporting transformational change across a $1.7B program;Work within a collaborative and forward-thinking PMO;Flexible hybrid work environment;Excellent exposure to senior government stakeholders; andBrisbane CBD location (123 Albert Street).
