About the role :
The Health and Safety team is currently seeking a Health Specialist to join them on a Monday-Friday roster based at the Perth office.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for the development, management, and continuous improvement of the health management systems across the organisation.
This position is responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on complex health issues and workers compensation claims, as well as offering technical input to business leaders on matters affecting employee health and ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.
The successful candidate will have significant input into, and drive the implementation of, business strategies to manage psychosocial risks in the workplace.
This position will be responsible for a team of 2 Injury Management Advisors.
Duties :
Drive the business approach and strategy towards management of Workers Compensation Claims including oversight and guidance on the management of complex claims in line with business requirements.
Implement, maintain, and manage health & fitness for work systems that meet legislative requirements as well as business needs.
Develop, implement, and review strategies for managing exposure to psychosocial risks.
Evaluate injury trends, analyze data (including participation in injury investigations), and develop action plans to mitigate risks.
Ensure health monitoring programs are in place as per legislation.
Oversee and guide the management of salary continuance claims and drive strategies to improve claim performance.
Skills and Experience :
Tertiary Qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Exercise Physiology, or other relevant medical field.
Extensive experience in health and injury management, preferably in mining or a related industry.
Knowledge of Health, Compensation, and Injury Management Acts, legislations, and standards.
Experience managing complex workers compensation claims.
Experience in managing psychosocial risks in the workplace.
