About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to join our pre opening team at the first Caption by Hyatt in Australia. You'll work alongside the Food & Beverage Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of Talk Shop our all-day lounge and eatery, playing a key role in setting the tone for service, motivating the team, and creating a space that feels welcoming, social, and connected.
Your responsibilities include:
Deliver meaningful guest experiences
across all F&B touchpoints, ensuring service is aligned with Caption by Hyatt brand standards and the spontaneous, community-driven spirit of the hotel.
Champion service recovery
and own guest feedback, resolving concerns promptly, thoughtfully, and with empathy.
Actively lead, coach, and develop
team members through day-to-day support, on-the-job training, and fostering an environment of care, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Demonstrate Hyatt's purpose
— "We care for people so they can be their best" — by guiding the team to live Caption's inclusive values and deliver service that feels authentic and unscripted.
Ensure staffing levels
are aligned to occupancy and business activity, managing payroll, shift coverage, and efficient rostering.
Support stock control processes
, including ordering, storage, wastage tracking, and monthly inventory in line with hotel SOPs.
Uphold RSA compliance
, ensuring all team members hold a valid RSA certificate, carry it on shift, and comply with licensing regulations, the venue's liquor licence, and the Plan of Management. Ensure guests also adhere to house policy and responsible consumption guidelines.
Promote a safe and clean work environment
, maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety, WHS, and emergency readiness in line with hotel protocols.
Contribute to sustainability goals
by driving initiatives in conscious sourcing, waste reduction, and connection with the local community.
What you will bring to the role:
Previous experience as a Food & Beverage Supervisor or Team Leader in a hotel setting.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and empower a diverse team.
Demonstrated creativity in food and beverage, with a passion for ethically and sustainably sourced products.
Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across departments and stakeholders.
Proven ability to lead the operation to meet key goals across guest satisfaction, colleague engagement, and financial outcomes.
