The Intake and Treatment Clinician role focuses on the provision of mental health counselling and support for a case load of young people accessing headspace Colac services. This includes the provision of evidence based counselling and psychosocial support, targeting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The role delivers high quality mental health and AOD interventions for young people aged 12 – 25 years, and their families and friends. A headspace centre provides access to primary mental health, sexual and physical health, alcohol and other drugs and vocational/education support in a safe, confidential and youth-friendly environment. The Intake and Treatment Clinician works as part of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate coordinated clinical care and treatment.
Key objectives:
Engage and assess the health and wellbeing needs of young people and their friends/families.
Refer to and collaborate with other health and community services, especially homelessness services, in the interest of the young person.
Support a timely, responsive and evidence-informed youth mental health counselling service.

Major sites include University Hospital Geelong, the McKellar Centre in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
