Based in Nowra, New South Wales. Permanent full-time position with 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday) and a 9 day fortnight.
Responsibilities
Construction of wastewater and water reticulation systems and pump stations.
Removal of redundant water/wastewater assets including asbestos pipes.
Direct supervision of contractors on site, including poly welders, under-borers and earth moving contractors.
Supervision of deep excavation works to meet SafeWork requirements.
Repair main breaks and maintenance rectification of reticulation systems.
Installation of Pressure Sewer Units, water/fire services, formwork and general concreting.
Undertake scheduled maintenance of water and wastewater reticulation systems.
Locate and clear sewer chokes (including use of jet-washing machines and CCTV equipment).
Frontline customer interaction in potentially challenging situations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, relevant trade qualifications or substantial experience in maintenance or construction of wastewater/water systems.
Demonstrated competence in construction work (e.g., concreting) and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
Current MR Truck Licence or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Demonstrated competency to operate a Backhoe or Excavator.
Current NSW First Aid certificate.
Current National WHS Construction card (SafeWork).
Current NSW SafeWork Confined Spaces Entry certificate.
Current NSW SafeWork Traffic Controller Certificate.
Forklift certification.
Statement of Attainment for Removal of Non-Friable Asbestos.
Crane Operation and Dogging Certificate of Competency.
Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa).
Our ideal candidate is experienced with field equipment and machinery, understands water and sewer infrastructure, reads engineering plans, and works well in a team while adhering to safety standards.
On-Call & Overtime
Being available to be on-call and to complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Construction Operator to join our Water Construction team within Shoalhaven Water. In this role, you will lead a work team in the construction and maintenance of water and sewer mains and pump stations across the Shoalhaven. This Position Reports Directly To The Major Construction Supervisor and works closely with internal teams and contractors to deliver high-quality infrastructure outcomes for our community.
