Construction Operative Role

We are seeking a skilled Construction Operative to join our team.

This position reports directly to the Major Construction Supervisor and works closely with internal teams and contractors to deliver high-quality infrastructure outcomes for the community.

  • Construction of wastewater and water reticulation systems and pump stations.
  • Removal of redundant water/wastewater assets including asbestos pipes.
  • Direction of contractors on site including poly welders, under-borers and earth moving contractors.
  • Supervision of deep excavation works in other Operational teams to meet SafeWork requirements.
  • Repair main breaks and maintenance rectification of reticulation systems.
  • Installation of Pressure Sewer Units, water/fire services, formwork and general concreting.
  • Scheduled maintenance of water and wastewater reticulation systems.
  • Lecture and clear sewer chokes (including the use of jet-washing machines, and CCTV equipment).

To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations or relevant trade qualifications or considerable experience in the maintenance or construction of wastewater/water systems.
  • Demonstrated competence in construction work (i.e. concreting work), including the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Current MR Truck Licence or must obtain within 6 months.
  • Demonstrated competency to operate a Backhoe or Excavator
  • Current NSW First Aid certificate
  • Current National WHS Construction card (SafeWork)
  • Current NSW SafeWork Confined Spaces Entry certificate
  • Current NSW SafeWork Traffic Controller Certificate
  • Forklift certification
  • Statement of Attainment for Removal of Non-Friable Asbestos
  • Crane Operation and Dogging Certificate of Competency
  • Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa).

Key Requirements

  • Skilled Operative: We require an experienced operative with knowledge of construction practices.
  • Trade Qualifications: Relevant trade qualifications or considerable experience in the industry is required.
  • Licences: Current MR Truck Licence or must obtain within 6 months, and Forklift certification.
  • Training: Demonstrated competency to operate a Backhoe or Excavator and Statement of Attainment for Removal of Non-Friable Asbestos.
  • Certificates: Current NSW First Aid certificate, Current National WHS Construction card (SafeWork), Current NSW SafeWork Confined Spaces Entry certificate, Current NSW SafeWork Traffic Controller Certificate, Crane Operation and Dogging Certificate of Competency.
