**About the role**

As a **Principal Claims Manager**, you will provide expert and in-depth knowledge to a complex and diverse portfolio of life, disability, and income protection claims through investigation, analysis and assessment. You will also provide technical expertise and coaching to less experienced claims management staff.

Key responsibilities:

- Expertly manage a diverse caseload of complex life, disability insurance and income protection claims and implementing proactive claims management strategies to optimise both member and Australian Retirement Trust outcomes
- Engage members and other stakeholders through open and respectful communication to understand the medical, social and personal dimensions of their illness or injury
- Work collaboratively with members, employers, health care professionals and other key stakeholders to obtain information, provide claim updates, create action plans and provide verbal and written decisions while maintaining confidentiality and privacy
- Contribute to a dynamic work environment by identifying opportunities to improve processes and positively impact member service delivery and operational efficiencies and handling systemic issues as they arise
- Provide advice as required and check submissions for claims outside the delegation of your team members

**About you**

You are an excellent communicator and efficient planner with demonstrated experience in holistic claims management within the life/disability insurance claims industry. Furthermore, your skills and qualifications may include the following:

- A tertiary qualification in a related discipline (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience working with Early Intervention Services, Rehabilitation, Community Services and other related health and medical services
- Demonstrated experience supporting and mentoring others to develop claims management and related capabilities
