Apprentice Chef

If you're passionate about food and dreaming of a career in hospitality, this is your chance to start an exciting journey. We are looking for enthusiastic Apprentice Chefs (first and second year) to complete a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery while gaining hands-on experience across our diverse food and beverage offerings.
The Role
At Balgownie Estate, you'll learn from experienced chefs in a dynamic kitchen, covering everything from desserts and plating to larder, pans, and large-scale event catering. This is an opportunity to be innovative, learning new techniques while working with fresh, local ingredients.
During your apprenticeship, you will:
Learn product knowledge of menu items and seasonal ingredients
Work across breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
Assist in creating exceptional wedding and event dining experiences
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
Handle guest enquiries and special requests with genuine hospitality
Collaborate with a supportive team to ensure smooth operations
Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations

About You
To thrive in this role, you will:
Have a genuine passion for hospitality and cooking
Possess strong communication skills and a positive attitude
Be a team player, ready to collaborate and learn
Have reliable transport to and from Yarra Glen
Be available for varied shifts, including nights and weekends
Be eligible for an apprenticeship (you must not have completed a Cert III or higher qualification)
Have full working rights in Australia
