**Here at The Kids Research Institute Australia, our vision is simple - happy healthy kids. Improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal children and families in particular is an overarching priority for every program and team here at the Institute.

We have an opportunity available for an Aboriginal Project Officer to join Embrace at The Kids Research Institute, Western Australia's first research collaboration devoted to the mental health of infants, children and young people ages 0-25.

The Project Officer will support the co-design, development, and implementation of culturally safe and responsive, trauma-informed research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. The research will have social and emotional benefits for families by strengthening a sense of connectedness with family, kin, country and culture, and Indigenous identity.

You will play an integral role within our Aboriginal and non-Indigenous research team and will contribute to a variety of activities to help facilitate this project and other Embrace events as directed. One of your key focuses will be to facilitate yarning circles, which may be gender specific, and so in this role we are specifically recruiting one male Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to ensure cultural protocols are followed.

With an experienced project team around you, you will also have an opportunity to contribute to the following activities:

- Assist with obtaining ethics approval to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Provide cultural leadership and cultural advice to the project team to assist in relationship building with community members and organisations.
- Assist with the planning and management of data collection, entry, analysis and reporting.
- Visit community groups to promote the Parenting Program, Embrace and share our findings.
- Attend and lead Embrace community events that have a specific Aboriginal focus, in collaboration with the Embrace Communications Specialist.

**About You**

If you are passionate about working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families and have an interest in improving mental health outcomes, then we want to hear from you

The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:

- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in building relationships and working collaboratively with key stakeholders at various levels.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
