**Great opportunity for an APS 5 Policy and Program Officer to join the Federal Government space for a 12 month contract with a potential to go permanent.**

**The role is also open to Labour-Hire contract and s26 transfer**

**About the role**

The Water Division helps communities, irrigators, and businesses, use water resources sustainably and efficiently by progressing national water reforms. The division drives implementation of the Department's Plan and promotes the sustainable water development nationally under the principles of the National Water Initiative.

These roles are available to fill a number of existing and new positions as Water Division scales up to deliver new work priorities.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ability to research and analyse policy or program issues and prepare advice and reports on relevant activities or milestones for presentation to Senior Executive and key stakeholders.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and with confidence.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute to building and sustaining positive relationships with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders, as part of a team.
- A commitment to continuous improvement, working in new ways and a demonstrated ability to lead, implement and respond positively to change

**Qualifications and/or experience in the following is highly desired, but not mandatory**:

- Program or project management qualifications or experience.
- Familiarity with government policy and processes.
