The First Peoples - State Relations Group is seeking talented and passionate individuals committed to progressing the Victorian Government's nation leading work with First Peoples.
This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.
As the Heritage Registry Training and Education Officer, you will develop, maintain and deliver education and training programs to improve understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Register and functions of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Registry Information System (ACHRIS).
About you
- an understanding of the management of Aboriginal cultural heritage and the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, and an understanding of Aboriginal community aspirations and current challenges and opportunities
- experience in delivering education and training to a range of stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, heritage professionals, students and government bodies
- excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- well-developed written and verbal skills, with the ability to articulate and present complex concepts clearly and concisely
- excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem solving skills
- strong written communication skills, with a high degree of attention to detail.
A vocational, graduate or Bachelor level (or higher) qualification in Adult Education would be advantageous.
