Senior Project Engineer

The Project:The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project.
In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance.The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031.
The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
The T2D Alliance is committed to providing opportunities for local people, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees and job seekers who are long-term unemployed and offers people an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project.The Role:As a Senior Project Engineer for retaining walls, you will play a pivotal role in the construction of retaining wall structures for the Torrens to Darlington project.You will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise to ensure retaining wall elements are designed and constructed to meet project requirements, standards, and safety guidelines.Responsibilities:Lead the design, review, and coordination of retaining wall structures in collaboration with the design team, contractors, and stakeholdersProvide technical guidance and support to construction teams during the build phase to resolve any engineering or site challengesEnsure all retaining wall designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and project specificationsMonitor the quality, safety, and environmental performance of retaining wall construction activitiesManage risk assessments, method statements, and engineering documentation related to retaining wallsAssist with preparing long-term programme/ sequencing for the excavation works as required; providing productivity and cost inputsCollaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and construction personnel to deliver integrated project outcomesForecasting and cost control for responsible cost codes;Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of structures and construction workMentor junior engineers and provide leadership within the project engineering teamAssist in procurement activities, contractor evaluations, and stakeholder engagementAbout You:Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with substantial experience (typically 8+ years) in construction on large infrastructure projectsProven track record in managing complex retaining wall engineering works, preferably within tunnel, road, or rail infrastructure environmentsExceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative, practical engineering solutions under pressureExcellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities, with a collaborative mindsetCommitment to safety, quality, and sustainability in all aspects of workExperience mentoring and developing junior engineers and working effectively within a multidisciplinary alliance team environmentWe Offer:Your success is our success, and as an Alliance, we are committed to being an employer of choice in Adelaide.
