We are seeking passionate Category Managers with a flair for business development and vendor relationships. In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive the growth of our categories by persuading both international and local Australian brands to join Amazon. As a Category Manager, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our product range and ensuring the best shopping experience for our customers. Your key responsibilities will include: - Convincing brands to join Amazon and contribute to our fast growth phase - Acting as a new business "hunter" to bring in diverse brands and products - Serving as a customer and category advocate within Amazon - Utilizing strong negotiation and analytical skills for successful vendor relationships - Demonstrating commercial knowledge and experience in driving business objectives - Effectively prioritizing and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment - Excelling in project management with meticulous attention to detail - Collaborating with important partners, vendors, and cross-functional teams - Being an effective communicator and building strong relationships To thrive in this role, you should be a self-starter with a genuine passion for retail. Key job responsibilities - Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets - Act as the 'new business developer' for an assigned set of categories or brands, possessing a complete understanding (inclusive of the strategic context) of internal and external variables that impact your business. This includes owning forecasting, analysing, understanding and reporting on the business, in particular prospecting, conversion and terms negotiations). - Have a thorough understanding of the industry, seasonality and business trends/events, and continually monitor competitor/industry developments - Maximise Amazon's business and financial profitability through selection expansion opportunities - Have a complete understanding of the customer needs, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to advocate for and drive delivery of site features that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience - Build vendor/brand relationships - be the primary point of contact for vendor on-boarding and then ensure smooth transition to the category teams once on-boarded - Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, while meeting tight deadlines
- Experience managing large data sets and utilizing to drive performance and process improvements
- Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development
