**About the Role**

The role of the Rehabilitation Counsellor is to support women and gender diverse people in their healing and recovery from experiences of domestic, family, and sexual violence, supporting them to overcome barriers that prevent full participation in work and community life.

This is an office-based role located in South Brisbane. It includes face-to face, telephone, and web-based delivery modalities.

**Position Responsibilities**

1. Counselling and support
- Deliver trauma-informed rehabilitation counselling for women and gender-diverse people affected by domestic, family and/or sexual violence, supporting them to overcome barriers that prevent full participation in work and community life. Use face-to-face, telephone, and web-based delivery modalities.
- Assess participants' health and wellbeing needs that impact their ability to engage in work and the community, and develop, monitor, and review individualised rehabilitation care plans.
- Provide warm referrals to external organisations. This may be to support participants to meet their identified goals and/or when another service can better meet a participant's overall needs.
- Undertake risk assessments and safety planning with participants. When needed, escalate identified issues and clinical risks through formal organisational channels.

2. Professional development and group programs
- Contribute to the planning, development, and facilitation of therapeutic, psychoeducational, and community development group work.

3. Best-practice adherence and collaboration
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best-practice principles and adhere to evidence-based rehabilitation counselling, health promotion, and education frameworks.
- Build and nurture relationships with partners and community groups to enhance, deliver, and extend WHEQ's services.

4. Reporting and continuous improvement
- Contribute to the continuous quality improvement of service delivery projects and programs.
- Prepare accurate and timely information for external reporting and compliance purposes.

- **Effective group programs (if relevant)**:Therapeutic and psychoeducational groups are well-facilitated, highly engaging, and support participants in building resilience, self-agency and community participation.
- **Continuous improvement**:Contributions to service evaluation and professional development ensure WHEQ is a leader in healing and recovery for women and gender-diverse people affected by violence.
