**About the role**:
Reporting to the Head of Finance - Mining Growth & Transformation, the M&A Transaction Specialist will play a pivotal role in SIMEC Mining's business development working in a fast-paced environment. Working in a high performance team, this role supports all dimensions of Business Development M&A workflow including, industry analysis, target evaluation, valuation, due diligence and definitive agreement negotiations for both acquisitions and joint ventures.
Responsibilities include:
- Support complex negotiations and transactions and challenge conventional models and approaches
- Evaluate and prioritise potential inbound M&A opportunities for strategic fit, industry competitiveness and synergistic value for SIMEC Mining
- Manage and maintain business development systems, tools and processes
- Understanding of joint ventures, both incorporated and unincorporated including structures and documentation
- Provide advice and seek advice relating to commercial aspects supporting M&A transactions
- Drive effective M&A stakeholder accountability and management
- Assist with special projects and presentations for senior executives
- Maintain an accurate an up to data database for all acquisitions
- Keep up to date with all communications, structure, business case and collection of data to support the business case
**About your experience**:
We are looking for someone that is analytically minded, has a strong commercial and financial acumen and thrives working in a fast paced and dynamic working environment.
You will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related fields
- CPA/CA qualified or MBA highly regarded
- Contracts and legal experience highly regarded
- Knowledge and experience in M&A deal teams
- Experience working in M&A in ASX listed company or the "Big 4" preferable
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Work well under pressure and is able to deliver on strict deadlines
- Work autonomously and collaboratively with the team
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders
