**About the role**:
As a Lab Assistant in the microbiology laboratory, you will assist in the day-to-day operations of the lab which include laboratory analysis. Key accountabilities will include however not limited to:

- Sample preparation in accordance with laboratory test method and quality management system requirements.
- The analysis of water and wastewater in accordance with the laboratory quality management system to meet NATA requirements, including recording of data, calculation of results and production of results in a timely manner.
- Assist Lab Technicians and Analysts in more complex analysis of water and wastewater samples.
- Operation and maintenance of basic laboratory equipment and general duties.
- Operation of LIMS to prepare worksheets, enter data and locate job registration details.
- Assist in other relevant duties as directed.

- Experience or awareness of laboratory techniques and instrumentation in the field of microbiological analysis.

- Sound MS Office suite and computer skills.
- Associate Diploma or higher qualification in Laboratory Techniques.
- Strong organisation and time management skills coupled with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
