About the role
Mater Occupational Therapy department are looking for an
Occupational Therapist
to join the team on a
12 month full-time, maximum term
contract located at our
South Brisbane campus.
The Occupational Therapy department at Mater Health provides a broad range of public and private acute health services with adults, women's health, neonatology, children and adolescent services.
The Lymphoedema team provides highly specialised outpatient clinical services for patients with lymphoedema and vascular conditions and provides a consultative role for inpatients.
The lymphoedema service is a multi-disciplinary service incorporating occupational therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy assistants. As a senior clinician in the Lymphoedema service you will deliver high level clinical services within the lymphoedema caseload. Additionally, you will provide mentorship or supervision within the department in your area of clinical expertise and lead quality improvements to continuously enhance and support patient centred, evidence based care.
What you'll be doing
Typical duties for the role include:
Independently manage specialist lymphoedema out patient caseload.
Utilise specialist knowledge and clinical judgement to manage complex clinical presentations
Provide specialist lymphoedema advice to the OT team and MDT.
Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers in the delivery of lymphoedema clinical services
Contribute to the development of new and existing services and procedures that support high quality patient care and efficient and cost effective service delivery within area of clinical expertise.
Contribute to the management and prioritisation of the team's workload.
Identify, initiate, plan and evaluate quality and service improvement activities to achieve positive outcomes for clinical services and patients
Actively contribute to the research culture and collaborate on clinical research activities.
Provide clinical lymphoedema advice within professional and multidisciplinary teams and when liaising with patients, families/carers and external agencies
Positively represent the Lymphoedema service within multidisciplinary team and external stakeholders
About you
To be successful in this role, ideally you will have:
Degree in Occupational Therapy
Accredited Lymphoedema training
Eligibility with AHPRA
Eligibility to receive a Medicare provider number
Eligibility for accreditation with the ALA practice register (desirable)
Demonstrated high level of knowledge, clinical practice and use of clinical judgement in delivery of complex lymphoedema and vascular clinical services
Demonstrated high level of knowledge in treatment of lymphoedema and vascular conditions including therapy devices such as intermittent pneumatic compression, negative pressure devices and complex garment prescription
