**About the Role**

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Diver to be a crucial part of our Displays team at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium. This unique opportunity invites you to play an integral role in managing our daily aquarium operations, and ensuring the well-being of our diverse collection of marine life.

In your role as Senior Diver, you will engage directly with a variety of aquatic species, from sharks and rays to an array of fish species. Not only will you get to care for these incredible animals, but you will also have the opportunity to promote education and conservation through providing a memorable experience for our visitors.

Further responsibilities include:

- Coordinating aquarium shark dives: Managing the efficient and seamless transition of divers through the Shark Dive experience, and ensuring adherence to all relevant dive industry and company standards.
- Ensuring animal health and nutrition: Creating balanced nutrition plans for various species, maintaining nutrition logs, conducting daily Oceanarium health checks, and updating or creating Animal Health Examination Forms (AHEFs).
- Overseeing oceanarium water quality and hygiene: Making necessary changes based on water quality findings and maintaining high levels of cleanliness of all diving equipment and associated areas.
- Leading oceanarium enrichment and animal training: Crafting and managing enrichment plans, establishing and executing training plans, conducting training with staff members, and creating relevant records for tracking progress through multiple platforms such as Excel, OERCA and Word.
- Participating in media relations: Making appearances and promoting our conservation message to wider audiences.
- Managing animal stocking plans: Producing stocking plans, conducting biannual census reports, and overseeing animal acquisitions.
- Supervising display development and renovations: Proposing and implementing display designs and improvements.
- Overseeing aquatic species breeding programs: Developing and managing breeding plans, maintaining relevant records.
- Collaborating with researchers: Actively engaging in and seeking out research collaborations.
- Assisting the curatorial team as needed.

Please note that this role requires a varied hour roster including work on weekends and public holidays with the combination of day, evening and over night shifts where necessary.

**About You**

You hold valid Australian working rights and current qualifications of teaching SCUBA certification of Dive Instructor and First Aid and/or Oxy Resuscitation training. Additionally you have a current Commercial Dive Medical.

Holding a bachelor's degree in biology, zoology, marine science or related field is desirable alongside a current manual drivers licence. Knowledge and practical experience within the aquarium industry together with experience in identification of animal health issues and their treatment is also desired. Additionally it is essential that you have intermediate to strong computer skills using MS office and an ability to Bend/Stoop; Squat; Crawl; Crouch; Kneel; Balance; Climb Heights (4m); Carry and Lift up to 30kg.

This is a fast paced, guest-facing environment where no two days are the same. Consequently, you are a strong communicator and are able to build rapport across the business. Your ability to have a flexible and adaptable approach along with demonstrated planning, organisational and time management skills are desired.
