The Office of the Queensland Ombudsman (OQO) is an independent integrity agency established under the Ombudsman Act 2001.
The OQO investigates complaints about the actions and decisions of Queensland Government departments and agencies, local councils and publicly funded universities. The OQO also works with agencies to improve the quality of their decision-making and administrative practice by making recommendations, delivering training and providing advice.
Working for the Queensland Ombudsman will give you the opportunity to make a difference in the community by helping to deliver fair and accountable public administration.
Review Officers are expected to work collaboratively and constructively toward the achievement of individual, team and OQO outcome requirements.
Review Officers may come from a variety of professional backgrounds.
Your work will focus on managing the assessment and investigation of complaints. The range of work could include:

- assessing complaints in line with operational procedures and delegations
- conducting research and preparing correspondence, submissions and reports
- providing verbal and written advice to complainants
- guiding Intake Officers in their work
- recommending relevant matters for investigation by OQO
- liaising with stakeholder agencies and complainants regarding the progress of cases
- developing and implementing strategies for investigations to ensure quality, timely resolution in consultation with senior officers
- maintaining accurate records about your work.
- Understands how the purpose and role of the organisation relates to their work and the work of the team. Demonstrates flexibility, insight and judgement in decision-making, remains composed under pressure and records clear reasons for decisions.
- Listens to understand what is needed and communicates effectively, taking account of the needs of different stakeholders. Achieves timely results through planning, persistence and professional conduct.
- Is experienced in working with legislative and policy frameworks; and demonstrates a commitment to improving performance through feedback and learning.
- Has knowledge and experience of effective administrative decision-making; and experience in assessment and investigation of complaints.
